A Coralville man has been arrested after an investigation determined he deposited forged checks totaling thousands of dollars.
30-year-old Joel Andrews of Spring Rose Circle allegedly committed the crimes between October 30th and November 17th last year. During that span, he reportedly deposited 10 checks belonging to at least three individuals totaling over $6600 into CBI bank on Holiday Road.
According to court documents, the checks were not drafted by the victims who owned them, and the accounts were previously closed. Some of the checks were allegedly taken from burglaries.
On February 3rd, Andrews was reportedly found in possession of blank checks from the same accounts belonging to two of the victims.
A warrant for his arrest was issued Monday; Andrews is charged with Forgery and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
