A Keokuk man pulled over for speeding was arrested on OWI and weapon charges.

A Johnson County deputy stopped 21-year-old Kolton Kellum of Boulevard Road just before 1am February 12th for allegedly going 90 in a 70 mile-per-hour zone. He reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of ingested alcohol.  After showing measurable impairment on field tests, Kellum provided a Datamaster reading of .153 percent.

Additionally, a 9mm handgun was allegedly found in the center console of Kellum’s Ford Ranger pickup, within arm’s reach.

He was charged with OWI first offense, Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, and Possession of Dangerous Weapons while Intoxicated. If convicted on all counts, Kellum faces a possible prison sentence of three years.
