Allegedly pretending to be his own twin brother to avoid a traffic ticket has led to multiple charges against an Iowa City man.
Iowa City Police say they pulled over 24-year-old Jose Pacheco of Stanwyck Drive near the intersection of Sycamore Street and Hollywood Boulevard just before 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Pacheco allegedly signed the citation in his twin brother’s name, and used his brother’s personal information because his own license is suspended. He also reportedly had no insurance on the vehicle.
Once his real identity was determined, Pacheco was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 7:30 Thursday night and charged with Tampering With Records, Malicious Prosecution, Providing False Identity Information, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, and Driving While Suspended. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of over three years in jail.
