Dry conditions likely helped fuel at least two rural fires that kept Johnson County firefighters busy on Friday.
Dispatch records show Tiffin and Oxford firefighters were called to 3620 Ivy Avenue south of Tiffin for a vegetation fire just after 4:00 Friday afternoon. The same two departments were called to 1930 Highway 6 along the western border of Kent Park just after 5:15 Friday night for another field fire.
Another fire earlier in the day was reported as a vehicle fire. The fire departments from Lone Tree and Hills were called to a car fire at the intersection of Highway 22 & Wapello Avenue just before 3:45 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
The dry conditions are expected to improve as snow moves into the area on Sunday, with a chance of rain in the forecast almost every day next week. We’ll have the latest forecast from our partners at severestudios.com at the end of this newscast.
