Iowa City Police have arrested a woman they say lied to law enforcement about her car being stolen after it was used by a co-conspirator in a police chase.

The co-defendant, who is not named in arrest records, reportedly led Johnson County deputies on a high-speed chase last January before getting away. The man was allegedly driving a car belonging to 33-year-old Tkeyah Wright, who reportedly called Iowa City Police and reported the vehicle as stolen after the man told her what happened.

A warrant was executed on Wright’s North Governor Street residence on February 3rd. Before police could arrive, she allegedly sent several firearms and drugs away with another person so they wouldn’t be found. That person was stopped by police nearby, and two firearms and cocaine, marijuana and MDMA were reportedly found inside the vehicle.

Police say a search of Wright’s home still turned up marijuana and empty drug packaging in her bedroom. They also allege that Wright’s co-defendant is a convicted felon who was distributing drugs.

Wright is now charged with two counts of Accessory After the Fact and one count each of Making A False Report to a Public Entity, Keeping Premises for the Use of Controlled Substances, and Obstructing Prosecution. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of nine years in jail.
