CRPD news release
Cedar Rapids, IA – Cedar Rapids Police officers responded to calls of a wrong-way driver on I-380 at approximately 1:22a.m. Saturday. A wrong-way driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near H Ave NE caused a four-vehicle collision. The crash site encompassed all three lanes, and the interstate was shut down for several hours.
Ronald Donelson, age 44, was determined to be the wrong way driver. He was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center and charged with:
-OWI 3rd
-Interference with Official Acts
-Reckless Driving
-Driving on the Wrong Side of Two-Way Highway
One passenger in an involved vehicle was taken to the hospital for evaluation and released.
Other charges related to this investigation are possible.
