The City of Oxford is warning residents about an unapproved door-to-door solicitor.

A Saturday post on the city’s official Facebook page indicates an unidentified and non-permitted adult male was going from house to house attempting to sell house painting services. The man has been personally addressed by the mayor and another city employee, has been called into the Johnson County Sheriff’s department, and has been asked to leave Oxford until he follows the proper processes in place to solicit business. There is no indication of who the man is, what his business affiliation is, or even if he is legitimate in the services he is attempting to sell.

City officials remind Oxford residents that the city will always announce in advance any door to door soliciting that has gone through the proper processes at city hall. If anyone has any further concerns or questions, they can reach out to city hall at oxfordcityhall@southslope.net or to the mayor directly at 319-777-3978.
