The principal of the Cedar Rapids Prep charter school has been arrested and charged with 1st degree Harassment.
The Gazette reports a criminal complaint filed Sunday alleged 41-year-old Justin Blietz threatened to slit someone’s throat and watch her die. He was released without posting bail and a no-contact order was issued between Blietz and the alleged victim.
A temporary no-contact order was issued for Blietz last March, but the protected party had the order dismissed the next month. It was not reported if the incident was related to this weekend’s arrest.
Cedar Rapids Prep is in its first year of operation. Chief of Schools James Troupis at its parent company, Opportunity Education, said in an e-mail to families that he would lead the school for now. Blietz has been placed on administrative leave and faces up to two years in jail if convicted on the Harassment charge.
