State Auditor Rob Sand will run unopposed in the June primary for the Democratic slot for Governor after the other registered candidate, Julie Stauch, did not meet nominating signature requirements.

The Gazette reports Stauch, a consultant from West Des Moines, noted her situation in a social media post late Friday, saying she had been notified by the Secretary of State’s Office that there were issues with signatures in two of the counties.

Stauch told reporters last week that her campaign amassed over 4500 signatures, and had safely met the requirement of 100 signatures in at least 19 counties.

Five Republicans are vying for their party’s nomination: U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra of Hull, former state agency director Adam Steen of Runnells, state legislator Eddie Andrews of Johnston, business owner Zach Lahn of Belle Plaine, and pastor Brad Sherman of Williamsburg.
