A Louisiana man who allegedly was speeding excessively while heading northbound on I380 faces an OWI charge.

At approximately 1:40am Sunday, 35-year-old Newtrell Brown of New Orleans was clocked going 95 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and he allegedly showed multiple signs of impairment including bloodshot watery eyes, dilated pupils, slurred speech and unsteady balance.

After performing poorly on field sobriety tests and failing a PBT, Brown reportedly submitted to a Datamaster test showing his breath-alcohol level at .129 percent.

An unspecified container of open alcohol was also allegedly observed in Brown’s vehicle.

He was charged with OWI first offense, speeding and an open container violation. The OWI comes with a maximum year in jail if convicted.
