Allegedly yelling homophobic slurs while being removed from a downtown Iowa City bar has led to the arrest of a Quad Cities man.

Iowa City Police say they were on patrol near the intersection of Dubuque and Washington Streets at 1:45 Friday morning when they saw 20-year-old Griffin Simpson of Davenport being dragged out of Bo James. His pants reportedly kept falling down, and he was allegedly heard yelling an anti-gay slur at passers-by.

When confronted by police officers, Simpson allegedly showed signs of intoxication and had liquid and stains all over his shirt.

During a search incident to his arrest, a fictitious ID was reportedly found in his wallet.

Simpson is charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Fictitious License. If convicted on both counts, he faces up to 13 months in jail.
