A Burlington man was arrested Monday afternoon after a trespass incident at a downtown Iowa City establishment.

The incident occurred at Scout’s Honor on East Iowa Avenue. Police were dispatched to a trespass there and found 32-year-old Joshua Crouch near the intersection of East Iowa and Linn Street.

According to the arrest report, Crouch began to walk away and was given multiple commands to stop but did not comply. When an officer put his hands on Crouch, he allegedly responded by striking him on the right side of the officer’s head and running away.

Crouch was eventually apprehended and charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and Interference with Official Acts.

A check of his criminal record found an outstanding warrant from a 2023 incident where Crouch reportedly refused to leave the UIHC main campus on Hawkins Drive despite not having a legitimate reason to be there. Security officers trying to restrain him ahead of police response were allegedly kicked in the legs by Crouch repeatedly. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

If convicted on all counts, he faces a sentence of up to 26 months.
