The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reports an Iowa City woman threw ceramic cups at her live-in partner, then assaulted arriving deputies.
According to arrest records, officers were dispatched to a residence in the Sunrise Village manufactured housing community on Scott Boulevard just after 6:45 Friday night after 30-year-old Lucy Lopez Corea allegedly attacked her domestic partner while two children were present.
Witnesses say Lopez Corea scratched the man’s neck causing cuts and threw ceramic tea cups at him. At least one of the cups struck the man in the back of the head, drawing blood.
Lopez Corea allegedly fought with arriving deputies, causing a cut to an officer’s hand.
Lopez Corea is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault – 2nd Offense, Interference With Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury, Assault on a Peace Officer Causing Bodily Injury, and two counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.
