An Iowa City man faces a contempt charge after interacting with a protected party in a no-contact order.
The incident in question occurred the morning of March 19th. According to police, 39-year-old Joel Goldsberry contacted police and said he was at his residence earlier to get the keys for his vehicle from a roommate. Goldsberry explained that he called one of the residents to get his keys and was waiting by his vehicle at the time.
The complainant in the no-contact order came out of the building and the two got into a confrontation.
Goldsberry was arrested the day before on a 2nd offense domestic abuse assault charge, prompting the no-contact order.
As part of the order required Goldsberry to contact law enforcement to facilitate a visit to retrieve his property. He was charged with contempt. The assault charge is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in jail.
