A Montana man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after putting his pickup into a ditch.

Police were called by a passerby, who saw the truck in a ditch on Dubuque Street. Upon arrival, they came upon 35-year-old Samuel Soskin of Missoula in the roadway, trying to get the truck out of the ditch. He allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of consumed alcohol.

Soskin agreed to field sobriety tests, which showed measurable impairment, but refused a Datamaster. Officers observed multiple open containers of alcohol, and a firearm near the center console of the vehicle. Additionally, the license plat reportedly was not a match for the vehicle.

Soskin was charged with OWI second offense, public intoxication, and possession of dangerous weapons while intoxicated. He was also cited for failure to maintain control, an open container violation, and a fraudulent use of registration.

If convicted on the criminal charges, Soskin could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
