An Iowa City woman was arrested last week after an alleged assault on a man outside the Iowa City Public Library on Linn Street.
Police say 35-year-old Catherine Schnell was at the Library just after 5pm on May 4th, and was seen on surveillance video and by witnesses engaged in verbal remarks with a man. She then allegedly took a few steps towards the man and struck him in the face. Her hand continued to follow through and her fingernails reportedly cut the man’s arm.
Schnell was taken into custody and charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
