A continuance has been granted in an Iowa City burglary and masturbation case.

45-year-old Patrick Martinson of East Post Road in Marion is accused of reaching through an open window of an occupied apartment on the 600 block of South Johnson Street just before 2:30 on the morning of September 11th, 2024, then lifting the blinds and masturbating in full view of the resident as she was sleeping below him. Martinson is also accused of peeking through three other apartment windows on the 400 block of South Dubuque Street two days later.

Martinson is charged with one count each of 2nd Degree Burglary and Indecent Exposure and four counts of Intentional Trespassing. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.

On Friday Judge Justin Lightfoot issued a continuance in the case, resetting Martinson’s trial for September 15th. It was originally scheduled to begin on July 14th.  A case management conference is set for July 10th.
