An alleged road rage incident saw an Iowa City man reportedly intentionally sideswipe another vehicle.

The Iowa State Patrol says it received a road rage report just before 1:45 Saturday afternoon involving two cars heading southbound on Highway 218 between the Interstate 80 and Melrose Avenue exits. An investigation determined that 39-year-old Patrick Griffin of Woodridge Avenue intentionally sideswiped another vehicle, causing a crash. Troopers say Griffin’s 2017 Chevy Silverado showed signs of a sideswipe, and Griffin allegedly admitted to intentionally hitting the other car.

Griffin is charged with two counts of Assault With a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Reckless Driving. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
