911 call leads to OWI arrest of Cedar Rapids woman

A stranded motorist who called 911 ended up getting arrested for OWI.

Police say 20-year-old Megan Demeulenaere of Cedar Rapids drove her 2013 Nissan onto a set of railroad tracks on the 600 block of South Dubuque Street just after 3am Saturday and became stuck. She reportedly called 911 for assistance.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly observed Demeulenaere with bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, unsteady balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol. She showed measurable impairment on field sobriety tests, and a subsequent Datamaster test showed her breath alcohol level at .106 percent.

A post-arrest search of Demeulenaere’s purse allegedly found a fictitious ID.

She has been charged with OWI first offense and Possession of a fake ID and could be sentenced to a maximum two years in jail if convicted.
