Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect in a robbery that occurred earlier this month at the Town and Campus Apartments.
24-year-old Christian Vandee was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:45 Tuesday afternoon. Police say at around 11:30pm on October 1st Vandee displayed a gun when confronting a pizza delivery driver at the Arthur Street complex and demanded money. Vandee eventually left with only the pizza.
Investigators were able to identify Vandee through witness descriptions and cellphone records. Those records indicated that Vandee’s phone was in the area of the robbery at the time it occurred and that it was used to set up the robbery. They also showed statements made by Vandee about the robbery after it occurred.
Vandee, who has no known address, is charged with 1st Degree Robbery. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
