A North Liberty man who said he had 30 shots of liquor before heading out for another drink was arrested for his fourth OWI Monday.
Police were called by staff at Mosely’s on East Zeller Street at around 5:45pm. They advised that 30-year-old Travis Anderson had arrived by vehicle and ordered a drink, but believed him to be already highly intoxicated. He attempted to leave but staff stopped him.
When police arrived, Anderson was reportedly extremely intoxicated, with very slurred speech, poor balance, bloodshot watery eyes and the strong smell of ingested alcohol. He allegedly admitted to drinking 30 shots at home before driving to Mosely’s.
Anderson was unable to participate in field testing and blew a .359 on PBT, with a subsequent .303 on a Datamaster.
Arrest reports indicate that Anderson has three prior OWIs, most recently in 2012 and 2016 in Linn County.
He was arrested for third or subsequent OWI, a Class D Felony, and driving while license denied or revoked. If convicted on both charges, Anderson could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
