The results are in for Tuesday’s primary election.
The Johnson County Board of Supervisors will stay intact, as Democratic incumbents Lisa Green-Douglass, Royceann Porter and Rod Sullivan easily defeated challenger Dean Phinney.
The new Johnson County Sheriff will likely be Brad Kunkel, who drew almost five times as many votes as his Democratic opponent, Al Fear, to replace longtime sheriff Lonnie Pulkrabek.
As it stands, there are no Republicans running for Supervisor or Sheriff this fall.
Pulkrabek was unopposed in his Democratic primary to run against Republican Bobby Kaufmann in State House District 73 this fall.
Mariannette Miller-Meeks will be the Republican nominee to face off against Democrat Rita Hart to replace U.S. Representative Dave Loebsack, who is stepping down from office. Miller-Meeks defeated Tim Borchardt, Steven Everly, Rick Phillips and Bobby Schilling, who came in a close second.
Theresa Greenfield is the Democratic nominee to go up against Republican U.S. Senator Joni Ernst. She outlasted Michael Franken, Kimberly Graham, Eddie J. Mauro and Cal Woods.
In the state House of Representatives, incumbent Vicki Lensing was upset by challenger Christina Bohannan in the Democratic primary in District 85
