Muscatine County officials have lifted the county’s burn ban.

According to a news release from Muscatine County Emergency Management, the ban was lifted Friday due to several days of rainy weather and predicted rain and possible snow in the forecast. The ban has been in effect since October 15th, when it was issued by the Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office.

The city of Muscatine’s Assistant Fire Chief, Mike Hartman, told The Muscatine Journal that the county-wide ban had been requested based on a poll of the county’s fire chiefs conducted by emergency management to determine if there was a need. A ban request was then sent to the state fire marshal. A similar process was used to lift the ban.
