A Coralville man who reportedly photographed and then swore at workers at an interstate rest area over the summer has been arrested for harassment.
According to authorities, the incident occurred the afternoon of July 16th at the westbound I80 rest area at mile marker 237. 56-year-old Daniel Zwagerman of Cambridge Drive approached two workers who clean the rest area. The workers say Zwagerman asked them if they worked there, and when they said they did, Zwagerman took a photo of them, said “Eff you,” and walked out.
One of the workers followed Zwagerman and asked why he took their picture. He stated that Zwagerman then said, “Get away, you effin n-word.”
The workers identified Zwagerman by his driver’s license photo, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on August 10th. He was booked at the Johnson County Jail late Monday afternoon, and charged with 3rd degree Harassment, a simple misdemeanor.
A no-contact order was requested between Zwagerman and the two workers.
