An Iowa City woman who allegedly used a pair of kitchen knives to threaten a household member last month has been arrested.
Police say the incident in question occurred the evening of September 28th. 26-year-old Diana Rivera of the Hilltop Mobile Home Park reportedly picked up two large kitchen knives and instructed a female in the home to “come into the kitchen.” When the woman wouldn’t do what Rivera asked, Rivera approached the woman with a knife in each hand.
The woman told authorities that she was in fear for her well-being and believed Rivera would harm her.
A warrant was issued for Rivera’s arrest the next day. A check of court records showed a previous warrant for failing to appear on 3rd Degree Automobile Burglary and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations charges.
She was charged Monday with Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a Weapon for the September incident, an aggravated misdemeanor.
