A Bloomfield Iowa couple has been accused of pilfering over $13,000 in equipment from the University of Iowa Bookstore.
According to police, 75-year-old Billy Joe Prevo and 74-year-old Marcella Prevo obtained ten FedEx tracking numbers identifying computer equipment purchased by the business. They allegedly presented the tracking numbers to the FedEx shipping facility on Beech Way Southwest in Cedar Rapids on August 24th, and were able to obtain the equipment before it made it to the bookstore.
The two were identified through video surveillance. The equipment was valued at $13,201.
Warrants for the Prevos arrest were issued on September 11th. They were booked into the Johnson County Jail Thursday morning and charged with Fraudulent Practice in the First Degree, a Class C Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to ten years if convicted.
