A 49-year-old Tiffin man died as the result of a bike crash Sunday afternoon.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the bike trail in Tiffin City Park for a bicycle crash. According to reports, Steven Towne of Tiffin was operating a Shred Surface electric mountain bike near the ball diamonds on the bike trail when he lost control and struck a bridge railing.
Towne was not wearing a helmet at the time and sustained fatal injuries. He died at the scene.
The Tiffin Fire Department and Johnson County Ambulance Service were also on scene. The county Medical Examiner’s Department assisted in the investigation.
