The Clear Creek Amana School District has gone to exclusive virtual learning and have applied for a two-week waiver from the Iowa Department of Education.

In a release from the District, they explain that although positive cases are relatively low for the district, staff quarantines, particularly among the transportation department, have led to the decision.

They say that due to not enough bus drivers to transport kids to school, and struggling to cover classes among the non-positive testing faculty, the decision was made Sunday to go virtual Monday and today while they wait for the waiver approval from the State.

13 bus drivers and 2 bus mechanics have been quarantined for two weeks. 5 cohorts are quarantined among the elementary and middle schools, and 49 teachers and staff quarantined or tested positive for COVID-19.

The release says 165 students have also been affected.

If the two-week waiver is approved, officials hope to return to in-person learning after the Thanksgiving break.
