An Iowa City man was arrested Monday night for an incident stemming from violation of a no-contact order.
Police say the incident occurred just before 7pm at a residence on South Lucas Street. 54-year-old James Perry of Church Street went to the property to speak with the protected party of a no-contact order he’s involved in. Perry allegedly entered the residence, which is a house with individual apartments inside.
The protected party’s new boyfriend answered the door, which allegedly led Perry to assault the man several times. Several witnesses were on scene to witness the incident, in which the boyfriend suffered facial injuries.
Police charged Perry with 2nd Degree Burglary, a Class C Felony punishable by a prison term of up to ten years if convicted. He was also charged with violating the no-contact order.
