A Tiffin man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly shoved a juvenile female who lives with him while he was intoxicated.
Police were called to the Potter Street residence of 25-year-old Joe Zapata at around 5:30 pm. According to residents of the house, Zapata was very intoxicated and making threats to them. The victims attempted to escort Zapata out of the residence, when he assaulted the female juvenile by pushing her away and forcefully pushing her arm away, causing pain.
The girl told authorities she found the incident painful and offensive. She also alleged that Zapata routinely threatens and assaults her when he is intoxicated, and she’s been dealing with his behavior for over a year.
Zapata was taken into custody and charged with Child Endangerment, Domestic Abuse Assault and Simple Assault. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to a maximum 26 months in jail.
