North Liberty Police say a rural Iowa City man was driving while intoxicated when he picked up an intoxicated friend at the scene of a car accident.
The Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center received a report Saturday night that 35-year-old Jacob Fuhrmeister, who lives on Turner Avenue near Morse, had picked up an intoxicated individual at the scene of a car crash. North Liberty Police caught up with Fuhrmeister just after 7:30pm near the corner of Golfview Drive and Rachel Street after he had already dropped off the other party. He allegedly showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking one beer.
Police say Fuhrmeister performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered breath alcohol levels of .203% and .236%. He was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
