A Lone Tree man was arrested on a warrant stemming from a February incident where he allegedly sexually abused a woman in Iowa City.
According to the police report, the woman met 23-year-old Aaron Slaughter in a downtown Iowa City bar on February 25th through a mutual acquaintance at about 12:40 am. The victim reported having a couple of drinks and then does not remember leaving the bar. Surveillance video shows the woman leaving with Slaughter.
The woman reported waking up in Slaughter’s truck and he was having sex with her. She reportedly told him to stop repeatedly but he refused. She stated that approximately 90 minutes later, Slaughter arrived at a location to drop the woman off, but the residents there didn’t know either Slaughter or the woman.
The witnesses at the residence told police that the woman appeared “basically unconscious” in the back seat of Slaughter’s truck, her clothing was not on correctly, and she had blood on her person.
Lab tests showed that blood collected from Slaughter matched that found on the victim, and DNA located during an exam of Slaughter belonged to the victim.
A warrant was issued for Slaughter’s arrest on June 2nd; he was taken into custody Monday night.
3rd degree Sexual Abuse is a Class C Felony punishable by a prison term of up to ten years if convicted.
