Former University of Iowa wrestler Spencer Lee has advanced to the Olympic gold medal match after going 3-0 Thursday in Paris.
Lee defeated China’s Wanhao Zou in a 3-2 decision in the Round of 16 before dispatching Bekzat Almaz Uulu of Kyrgyzstan in the quarterfinals 12-2 by technical fall. A few hours later he knocked out Gulomjon Abdullaevof Uzbekistan with a 14-4 technical fall victory.
Lee is wrestling at 57 kilograms, and next faces Rei Higuchi of Japan for the gold medal at approximately 12:55 Friday afternoon Iowa time. The match can be seen on Peacock.
