A University of Iowa student was arrested Friday after refusing to stop for officers conducting a bar check downtown.

The 20-year-old male was at the Airliner just after 12:15am when an officer began the check for IDs. He left the bar and began walking southbound on Clinton Street, ignoring the multiple commands to stop from the officer.  He then began to run westbound on foot and had to be taken to the ground.

The student had the odor of ingested alcohol  and had bloodshot watery eyes.  After being arrested, a fictitious ID was found on his person.

He has been charged with Public Intoxication, Interference with Official Acts and Possession of a Fake ID; if convicted on all counts, the student could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail.
