A plea deal has been reached in the case of an Iowa City woman accused of hiding the weapon used in the stabbing of a convenience store clerk.

43-year-old Lametry Hall of East Bloomington Street entered the guilty plea last week. Terms of the plea deal have not been released. Hall was initially charged with 1st Degree Robbery, Participating in a Riot, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Interference with Official Acts While Obstructing Prosecution.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the North Dubuque Street Casey’s just before 1:30pm on October 26th. Iowa City Police say Hall met her 16-year-old daughter at the convenience store to collect a $200 debt from an employee. The daughter and the employee began fighting, with the daughter allegedly pulling out a knife and stabbing the man.  The employee was able to break away and flee to the kitchen area, but Hall reportedly followed him and continued confronting him about the $200.

When police arrived, surveillance video allegedly showed Hall place her hand inside her daughter’s pocket and remove the knife used in the stabbing. She concealed it in her sweatshirt pocket and walked out of view of surveillance cameras, during which time she likely disposed of the blade.

Officers searched Hall approximately 25 minutes after she first walked out of view and she no longer had possession of the knife. She allegedly denied ever having the knife, and told police she saw it on the floor and kicked it.  Surveillance video showed her narrative to be false, and the knife was never recovered.

If convicted on all the original counts, Hall could have been sentenced to over 32 years in prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
