A Coralville man at the Johnson County Jail after allegedly assaulting his wife and two children earlier this month has been charged with multiple violations of a no contact order.

According to the County Attorney’s office, 44-year-old Ali Hussein was arrested May 3rd.  Between May 4th and 5th, he reportedly violated the order by contacting the protected party, calling a cellphone that he left at their shared residence. The court alleges that Hussein had a fellow inmate call the home phone number of the residence and tell the protected party to answer the cellphone.

Hussein reportedly attempted to contact the protected party by calling the cellphone 21 times; he made contact with the protected party 6 times.

A warrant was issued for Hussein’s arrest Monday; he was taken into custody Tuesday morning and charged with six counts of violating the no contact order. He had previously been released from custody after posting bond and given a GPS monitoring device.  The GPS release has now been revoked.

If convicted on the original charges, Hussein could be sentenced to up to 18 years in prison.
