A seventh suspect has been charged in connection with a party at an Airbnb near Shueyville that was advertised with a flyer on social media as having marijuana present.
Iowa City Police say 29-year-old Malik Richardson of Cedar Rapids was a passenger in a vehicle that was seen leaving the February 2024 party, which was held at a residence on the 3000 block of 120th Street NE. Richardson can also reportedly be seen in a video taken at the party.
Previously charged in the case were 24-year-old Amoni West of Marion, 23-year-old Onesty Tatum of Cedar Rapids, 26-year-old Markim Long of Cedar Rapids, 23-year-old Ireonna Parks of Cedar Rapids, 21-year-old Sydney Miller of Fairfax, and 18-year-old Evelyn Newman-Sawyer of Waterloo. All seven suspects were charged with Gathering Where Marijuana is Used, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
Long also faces one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense, which is punishable by a maximum of two years behind bars.
Miller entered a guilty plea last week and was fined $430.
The charges against Tatum and Newman-Sawyer have since been dismissed.
West, a convicted felon, is also facing a weapons charge after a Glock 22 was allegedly found in her purse as she driving away from the party. Tatum was given a five-year prison sentence in March on unrelated weapons charges out of Scott County.
