Today at 4:00 PM, local advocacy groups will gather at Sacred Collective in Iowa City for the Solidarity Summer Volunteer Kickoff, designed to connect residents with opportunities to get involved in local and statewide bodily autonomy work, including reproductive freedom, trans rights, healthcare access, and Medicaid funding.

The event will feature representatives from a variety of local and statewide organizations, including:

Corridor Community Action Network
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Iowa
Indivisible Johnson County
Domestic Violence Intervention Program / Rape Victim Advocacy Program
Iowa City Pride
…and others

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how they can help- be it through community outreach, public education, data entry, mutual aid, or policy advocacy.

The kickoff will be immediately followed by the Johnson County Trans Advisory Committee’s public monthly meeting at 6:00 PM, offering another opportunity for residents to engage directly in ongoing efforts to advance equity, civil rights, and bodily autonomy at the local level.
