Getting pulled over for a moving violation led to multiple charges being filed against an Iowa City woman.

Police stopped 46-year-old Natalie Roberts of Middlebury Road Monday night after she failed to stop when making a right turn at the intersection of US 6 and Taylor Drive. She was driving a Chevy Equinox with temporary plates.  Roberts allegedly told the officer that she didn’t have her driver’s license with her, but instead gave him her sister’s name and date of birth.  Roberts then provided the officer with the title to the vehicle, stating that she had just purchased it. The title reportedly also had her sister’s name on it.

The officer recognized Roberts from previous interactions, and a check of her driving record showed her status as barred, revoked and suspended.  She then allegedly admitted to signing her sister’s name on the title without her permission.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a tube used to smoke methamphetamine, 2 syringes used for heroin, and a plastic bag containing burnt tinfoil used to smoke heroin were reportedly located.

Roberts was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Jail.  Jail staff allegedly found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine in her wallet.

Roberts faces charges of providing false ID information, Forgery, Driving While Barred, Driving while Revoked, Driving while Suspended, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Controlled Substance violation, and Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution.  If convicted on all counts, Roberts could be sentenced to over 38 years in prison.
