An Iowa City man was injured in a Thursday morning traffic accident in Henry County.
The Iowa State Patrol says at about 7:45, 60-year-old Jose Venegas was driving a 2017 Mack semi southbound on Highway 218 south of Swedesburg when he attempted a left turn onto 170th Street. The accident report indicates Venegas failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck a northbound vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Derek Blint of Danville.
Blint’s car came to rest in the east ditch and caught fire, although he was able to escape without injury. Venegas was transported via ambulance to University of Iowa Health Care. His condition has not been released.
