Local Iowa City community resident Paige Adair is walking to end the disease she lives with, and she’s inviting others to join her.
On Saturday, June 21, Paige will lead the inaugural Iowa City Walk 4 CMT at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. Paige lives with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a rare, currently incurable, and debilitating neuromuscular disease. She organized this walk to raise awareness, build community, and help end the disease she faces every day.
This Walk 4 CMT is being held in partnership with the CMTA Center of Excellence at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
CMT affects an estimated 1,300 people in Iowa and more than 3 million people worldwide. It can cause muscle weakness, difficulty walking, loss of sensation, and more. The event invites participants of all ages to walk in support of those living with the disease.
Registration information is available at cmtausa.org/iowacitywalk.
