A Shelter House resident was arrested Saturday night after an alleged assault on the downtown Ped Mall.
27-year-old Montelle Craig was on Dubuque Street near a man who was reportedly with his child. After repeatedly walking in the area of the man, Craig was told to walk away. He instead allegedly head-butted the man. The victim slapped Craig, who then reportedly grabbed the man by the arm and punched him in the face repeatedly while he was on the ground.
Craig was apprehended and a post-arrest search allegedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
He was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, marijuana possession 3rd or subsequent offense, and drug paraphernalia possession. If convicted on all counts, Craig could be sentenced to up to over 3 years in prison.
