Allegedly trying to buy a firearm days after having his own guns confiscated as a result of a protective order has led to the arrest of a North Liberty man.

36-year-old Jonathan Greene of North Front Street turned over his guns to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on June 9th…the same day he was named as the defendant in a protective order with his intimate partner.

Coralville Police say five days later, Greene entered Scheels in Coralville and filled out the necessary paperwork to purchase a Glock 43X 9mm pistol. He allegedly checked “no” when asked if he was the current subject of a protective order.

The purchase was denied, and Greene is now charged with Fraudulent Purchase of a Firearm. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
