The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the shooting victims Friday.
The Iowa DOT issued a statement just after 9:00 Friday night indicating the I-80 westbound on-ramp to Highway 151 near the Amanas was blocked by emergency vehicles. Scanner traffic indicated a shooting, with University of Iowa AirCare being dispatched to the scene before being cancelled in favor of a ground ambulance.
The victims were a married couple; 56 year old David Morse and 52 year old Tara Morse of Holt Michigan. David was pronounced dead at the scene; Tara was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting with help from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the state medical examiner’s office.
No additional information has been released about arrests or a possible ongoing threat to the public. More information will be released when deemed appropriate.
