The chair of University of Iowa Health Care’s orthopedics department has announced his retirement.
Dr. Lawrence Marsh made the announcement Wednesday, just a few months after overseeing the department’s move to its new North Liberty location.
He began as interim chair in 2013 before being appointed permanent chair a year later. In his statement, Marsh says he tentatively plans to remain active in clinical coverage at some capacity.
His official retirement date is January 1; UIHC is launching a national search for a new chair and executive officer for the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.
Marsh has been a part of UI Health Care since 1987.
