An Iowa City man pulled over for driving while suspended and having a loud muffler now faces drug charges.
Officers stopped 21-year-old Malik Scott of Union Road on Mormon Trek Boulevard just after 9pm Friday. Upon contact, the vehicle reportedly had the odor of marijuana and a probable cause search was executed. Inside, 6 THC vape pens and two bags of marijuana weighing approximately 116 grams were allegedly found.
Scott reportedly admitted he had just purchased the product.
He was charged with possession of cannabidiol, marijuana possession, and failure to attach drug stamp, as well as driving while suspended. If convicted on all counts, Scott could be sentenced to a maximum 7 years in prison.
