An Iowa City man was arrested Saturday afternoon after an altercation at his residence.
According to police, 38-year-old Samuel Allen was in a verbal argument with one of the victims and said he was going to grab some clothes and leave the premises. When he attempted to leave, he reportedly grabbed his 3-year-old son and said he was taking the boy with him. The victim stepped in front of Allen to keep him from driving off, due to her smelling the odor of ingested alcohol on the man’s breath.
Allen then pushed the woman while holding the boy.
He left the scene but was stopped by police in a 2021 Jeep Cherokee. Police say the Jeep had the odor of marijuana and found 3 THC wax pens, two containers of THC wax and a small plastic baggie containing raw marijuana inside.
Allen was charged with simple assault, child endangerment, and marijuana possession. He could be sentenced to over three years in prison if convicted on all counts.
