An investigation from the Iowa Department of Transportation has determined that an Iowa City man used a stolen social security number to register a pair of vehicles and a mobile home.
The DOT Bureau of Investigation and Identity Protection reports 40-year-old Jesus Mejia Gomez of the Iowa River manufactured housing community on South Riverside Drive used the stolen social security number to register two vehicles and his home with the Johnson County Treasurer’s Office on Halloween of 2022. The vehicles were a 2009 Toyota Camry and a 1999 Honda Accord. The mobile home was a 1973 Medallion.
Mejia Gomez is charged with two counts of 3rd Degree Fraudulent Practices. If convicted, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
