A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening a pregnant woman.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 am at Planet Fitness on Coral Ridge Avenue. According to police, the woman, who is approximately 6 months pregnant, was at the facility when 56-year-old Antonio Lucas of Mount Vernon Road SE approached her while she had earbuds in and was very animated.
When the woman took the earbuds out, Lucas reportedly cursed at her and removed a pocketknife that contained a razor blade instead of a normal knife blade. He allegedly unfolded it and held it behind his back, then turned his back to the woman and waved the open razor blade at her.
He also allegedly waved the weapon at the woman’s husband in a threatening manner while in the parking lot.
Lucas reportedly admitted to the actions prior to arrest.
He was charged with Assault while displaying a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault while Displaying a Weapon to a Pregnant Individual. If convicted on both counts, Lucas could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
A no-contact order was requested by both victims.
