An Iowa City man stopped for an outstanding warrant now faces a handful of driving violations.
Police observed 25-year-old Joshua Johnson driving a 2007 Ford westbound on Burlington Street at 9:11pm Monday. The officer was familiar with Johnson and was aware that he had a temporarily restricted license. A check of his registration showed an active warrant, and a traffic stop was initiated.
Johnson was reportedly driving without a required ignition interlock device and did not have his restricted license paperwork with him. His driving status is barred as a habitual offender until August 2027, and revoked until November 28th this year due to an OWI test refusal.
Johnson faces one count each of Driving While Barred, Operating without Interlock, and Driving while Revoked. If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
